Gating and filter technology for foundries

New theories in the context of former research findings

Casting technology is one of the most fascinating and important areas of modern engineering. Humans have been smelting and casting metals for over seven millennia. Our search for ideal gating and filter technologies has accompanied these developments right from the start. Foundries continuously face issues with filtration, which can lead to sub-optimal casting results. hofmann CERAMiC’s many years of experience have shown that it is often possible to achieve good casting results even though the filtration technology used doesn’t fit with current theories on filtration. Thorsten Reuther has made it his life’s work to assemble these kinds of observations and formulate a new theory of filtration technology. He integrates these observations deliberately into the context of earlier research results, and sees his work as a continuation and further development of existing models. He drafts new approaches to optimizing gating technology and filtration, posing them in a practical and easy-to-understand way.

Developed and assembled by Dipl.-Ing. Thorsten Reuter, Managing Director of the company hofmann CERAMiC.
