Gating and Filtering Technology in Foundries
New Theories in the Context of Previous Research Findings
Foundry technology is one of the most fascinating and significant fields of activity in modern engineering. For more than seven millennia, metals have been melted and cast. And for just as long, the search for the ideal gating and filtering technology has continued.
Repeatedly, problems with filtration occur in foundry operations, leading to suboptimal casting results. On the other hand, hofmann CERAMiC’s many years of experience have shown that good casting results are often achieved even though the applied filtration technology contradicts common theories on filtration.
Thorsten Reuther has made it his mission to compile these observations and formulate them as a new theory on filtration technology. He deliberately places this in the context of previous research findings and views it as a continuation and further development of existing models. In an easily understandable and practice-oriented manner, he outlines new approaches to optimizing gating technology and filtration.
